How is it possible that both the audience and soundboard copies all have Not Fade and Bird Song missing? Did aliens come down and vamp everybody’s brain and the tape deck to remove these two tunes? Strange indeed.

I'm not an aud source guy; there is a very small part of my collection from aud sources. That being said, this night and the next night are the two gems from the aud that I have on disc. The next night is better, which means light this one up and the next night. Must haves.

...however, the material from the second set sounds like it is from another source?? Regardless, this is about as good a 71 AUD as you could hope for. GREAT first set with standout performances of Mr. Charlie, Cryptical > Drums > Other One and Casey Jones. Recommended download.

Thank you, Archive, for making this available. This recording reflects The Grateful Dead scene entirely, to include the band, crew, audience and the deadicated taper who made it possible to experience 35 years later...in all its beautiful ugliness (and Pigpen too!). All Heads, young and old, should download this one.

This a really well-preserved recording. Levels seems to have solid freq. range, crisp highs and very, very clear. Any sound critic should be impressed by this one. Nice work. Opens up with a solid Bertha which at the end of,Bobby instructs "guy with the microphone" to move back 40 feet for the best recording. This one gets 5 skulls for Bobby's words of recording encouragement

I totally agree with Dank, this is an excellent audience recording and a tremendous performance. I've had an XLII of this baby for years, this is the Grateful Dead.

This is just wonderful. An absolutely smokin' performance so psychedelic your teeth will clench. You know it's gonna be a weird night when Jerry forgets to sing until the 3rd Bertha verse. A top-notch Other One. A nice fall-off-the-ledge-and-crawl-slowly-back GDTRFB.
The recording is great -- solid and musical -- you can hear every instrument clearly and the excitement in the room is palpable. Yeah, there are some flaws (and a couple missing tracks) but it's an audience from 1971.
Don't think about it -- just download. It's a keeper.
